touchpad doesn't work after switching users
latitude 3440
windows 8.1 64 bit
after switching between user accounts, I can move the cursor around on the screen, but I can't click on anything, not left click or right click
after signing out of the problematic user account and signing back in, the pad works normally
I saw a lot of reports on this problem for linux, but none for windows.
this laptop came with ubuntu installed. I personally installed windows 8.1 64 bit, which is supported, and I installed all the latest drivers.
the dell auto-detect can't find any problems.
No Events found!

okay, I had to actually delete the touch pad driver, because otherwise, it automatically reinstalls itself after reboot.
now I installed from the dell site, and so far, so good.
but this is an intermittent problem. I never know when it will start happening again.
If the problem comes back, I will get back to you
thanks

Hi shmu26,
Welcome to the Dell Community Forum.
Thank you for sharing the issue in detail with us and I appreciate you've re-installed the Windows 8.1 OS along with all the updated drivers on your computer. As this computer had Ubuntu and now you've installed the Windows 8.1 please try connecting a USB Mouse to check the functionality. Un-install the Mouse drivers by right clicking on Touch pad under Mouse and Other Point Devices and re-install them from support site here http://dell.to/1hcxG98 Complete the same and revert us with the system status.
Hope this helped.
