why audio driver version not updating after installing Conexant High-Defination Audio Driver

I have dell inspiron 15r Se

I installed the latest driver from here

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/in/en/indhs1/DriverDetails/Product/inspiron-15r-se-7520?driverId=N7T0C&osCode=W864&fileId=3140006592&languageCode=EN&categoryId=AU

After installing the driver I checked the device menu and then Spreakers (Conexant Smart Audio HD) properties and saw that the driver date is 7/25/2012 and Version is 6.2.9200 as given below in the image.

But the release date of the one I downloaded from the above like is

19-2-2012 and version Version:8.54.40.0,A03

What's wrong am I not installing the drivers the correct way it there more that is needed to be done apart from running the driver setup and installing the driver.

Hi Jakes99,

Did you reboot the system after updating the drivers prior to checking the Device Manager? For the update to register, the system has to be re-booted. The driver may not have installed correctly and hence is not reflecting the correct version. You may need to uninstall the previous versions and then re-install the drivers again from the Dell Support Website link below.

Also, please click on the links below for steps to update the BIOS on your system.

Plug your computer to a good, working UPS before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to replace the BIOS chip or motherboard. Disconnect all external devices and confirm there is no cd/dvd in the optical drive prior to updating the BIOS.

I have installed latest bios.

I uninstalled Conexant High-Defination Audio Driver and Installed it again.

After reboot say the properties of speakers (conexant SmartAudio HD) and it showed the same version 6.2.9200. May be its correct and may be the version of the application is Version: 8.54.40.0,A03 not the driver ?

Hi Jakes99,

Generally, when we update drivers, we need to select the operating system as well. There are different versions for Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Please let us know the operating system on your computer.

Thanks and regards,

Extract the drivers to a separate folder and update the drivers manually via Device Manager.
