Welcome to the Community. Check if the Security Center Service is running in services.
Click Start, type Services.msc in Start Search bar, and then press Enter.In the right pane, double-click Security Center. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, click Apply, click Start, and then click OK. Restart the computer. If the sevice is unable to start, lets us know what error message you are getting.
Tell us if you get an error message when you open your gadgets. Click start, in the search box type Gadgets, and click on Desktop Gadgets, and add them.
If it does not startup when you restart your computer follow the below steps.
Click on start, control panel, Folder options, click on the View tab, under Hidden files and folders, check Show hidden files and folders and drives. Click Apply and Click OK. Click on start, computer, C drive, Users, double click on the file with your user name eg "david", click on Appdata, click on microsoft, and right click on windows widebar, and click on delete and confirm it. This will delete your users gadget settings so when you go to use a gadget it will reset the folder and settings.
Error code 1058 could be a virus or malware on your computer. I suggest you download and run malwarebytes and check any viruses or malware. Malwarebytes is available for free on the internet.

same for gadgets. wont load says there are other gadgets using the file and won't close it. no other files using gadgets. cannot close the file

Error code 1058 could be a virus or malware on your computer. I suggest you download and run malwarebytes and check any viruses or malware. Malwarebytes is available for free on the internet.
