942 Printer - Printing with a yellow highlighter

Haven't had this problem but will say maybe the color cartridge spray head has gone bad or you could try cleaning the print cartridges and that may help. Also, try printing a document in black only and see what happens.

Had one other thought before you buy that new color cartridge. Are you getting this yellow highlight when printing a document from Word? Can you print say from the internet and not get the yellow highlight? Open one of your documents and make sure the option to yellow highlight option isn't checked. But if it is you would see the yellow highlight before printing.

You are welcome if I helped. Usually printers are not the cause with inkjet printers. The cartridges dry up from lack of use and especially the color ones. But is the light gray print a normal black print? Reason I ask is it might be low on ink also or have a problem. If it looks normal then you are ok. I think getting a new color cartridge is the option and hope for the best! Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have tried cleaning the print cartridges, with no success.  I've removed the color cartridge to print in black only, and it printed in a light gray, but the yellow was eliminated.  Perhaps the color cartridge spray head has gone bad as you suggested.  I guess my next option is just to replace the color cartridge completely and see what happens.

Thanks for the additional thoughts.  The yellow color appears whether printing from the internet or from Word.  Also, both cartridges are used regularly and are over half full of ink.  I'll let you know if a new color cartridge works.
