Blu-Ray Triple Write CD-Rom drive is not recognizing a blank BD-R disc

I just got a new XPS L702X with what's supposed to be a Blu-Ray Triple Write drive. The computer was loaded with Windows 7 Ultimate. Checking in Device Manager, the drive is a HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CT40N. My problem is when I slide in a blank BD-R disc to burn a system recovery disc, the computer does not recognize it. It keeps telling me to insert a proper disc. The BD-R disc, and the other discs I tried, are all brand new Verbatim 25GB discs. Is the HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CT40N supposed to be a Blu-Ray burner or not? If it is indeed a triple write, then what could possibly be wrong? thanx

The HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CT40N is not a blue ray burner it's a dvd burner blue ray read only combo drive hence it can only burn dvds not blueray discs.
