Cooling Pads -- Inspiron 5100
Has anyone tried any of the cooling pads for an Inspiron 5100 --either the ones that simply elevate the back of the notebook or the ones with USB powered fans built in? I was wondering if they offered any noticable cooling or were worth the money. I'm currently idling at around 38C and can spike up to 60C during gaming so any like experiences would be appreciated.

Very streamline, very light, 2 fans, and has a aluminum sheath for extra heat conduction. The cooler is not quiet like a whisper as advertised, but sounds more like a desktop. I only use it when I play Counter-Strike. Someone benchmarked the cooler and found that it kept the CPU 10 degrees cooler on intense applications. He showed this with I8KFangui screen shots. Don't know the exact link buy do a google search. Anyway I love the cooler and recommend it to anyone.

10C cooler on games would be huge ... and I think gaming is the only time I would use it as well as that's when things get a bit too warm

Just an update. I went with the Antec cooler (it and a targus were all that was sold around here).
Pros: Nice design, on/off switch, usb-powered with a passthrough cable so you don't lose a port,* 3yr warranty, compartment for cable storage.
Cons: A bit loud, though really no worse than two case fans would sound. A bit more pricey than the competition. Steals a lot of power from USB hub.
Overall with light use, cpu temp is hovering around 36/37C, down from 39/40C. With heavy use cpu is at 57C, down from 60C. While these gains aren't huge, they are noticable, especially during heavy use/gaming. I think I'm going to use it for a few more days before I decide if it's worth keeping or not.
--I kinda wish there was a way to control fan speed. The longer I sit here the more I think the sound is going to get to me
*I have not yet tested whether the passthrough cable adequetly supports USB 2, although I did not get a "USB 2 device plugged into a USB1 hub" when I plugged something in.
