Creative Zen Microphoto MP3 player isn't picked up
I recently bought a creative zen microphoto mp3 player, and after installing the software for it when i connect the mp3 player the zen software doesn't recognise that it is connected. I've tried it on other computers, and some recognise it and some don't. Has anyone else had this problem? Windows recognises it and keeps trying to install it. I've reinstalled the creative zen software a number of times, I've contacted creative and they're hopeless, no help at all. This is my last resort

Seeing that other PCs have problems recognising the device I can only suggest that maybe there is something wrong with the USB connector on the supplied cable.

I think there may be a fault with the player itself or the cable that it came with. The computer that it used to run fine on now has that same problem as my inspiron 1300

I just bought one too and am looking at it as I speak - have not yet installed. I am a little late to the digital player party since this is my first one and would appreciate all of your 'expertise' help on:
1. do I have to load their software? I want to use WMP 10. Is this possible or am I forced to use Creative's? The player came with an installation cd (that I assume has the MediaSource and Media Explorer that they tell you about in the guide as well as other system stuff that you probably have to put on the computer). It also came with a 'play for sure' CD but I already have WMP installed (and it seems like that is all that is on the CD but not sure if there is ).
2. how do you decide what music serivice to use for downloading and if I am understanding the diff options - pay per or subscription - it seems if you want to copy the download to either a portable or a CD maybe subsription makes sense? Can anyone reccommend good sites for comparion of providers as well as your opinions?
3. last question..in WMP on Tools-Ripping, It has a bit rate (e.g., 128, 192 etc.). I have tried to understand what this is but have not been successful in finding out and have left it at 128 when I have ripped- is this ok? I have seen these numbers mentioned many times in blogs and such but still not sure if what I have set is 'right' or what I should use (if i can adjust?) when I rip or download music.
