Hi dpolonsky,

As per your post, I understand that the system is not powering on.

I’d like to know if there is any indication of power on the system and the ac adapter when you turn on the system. If there is no power, please follow the steps provided below.

Connect the ac adapter to a known good power outlet. Check the power LED indicator on the ac adapter (without plugging it into the laptop)

If the LED on the ac adapter is not lit, please reseat the power cables to the brick. If there is still no light coming up on the ac adapter, it would mean that the ac adaptor and the power cord may be faulty.

If the led on the ac adapter is on, then remove all external peripherals, switch off the system, and remove the battery, ac adapter and the power cable. Press and hold down the power button for thirty seconds to drain any excess flea power.

After performing the above steps, and if there is still no power on the system then the motherboard may be faulty.

Thanks and regards,
Senthil S

Hi dpolonsky,

I am sorry for the delayed response. This would have occurred with the static electricity inside the computer and it’s rare. As long as the battery is getting charged there seems to be no issues.

Hi Senthil,

This post seems to be useful as I have same issue with my laptop also.

My Power AD Adapter is working fine as expected (with Green light lit up when i connect to power source).

My Power ON Button on my laptop is not working when I give a single click.

Now when i hold press the power button for about 10-15 sec, it starts up and then my laptop works as expected.

Can you please let me know what could be a potential issue.

I got Dell Vostro 3550 from US around 9/11/2011.

Appreciate a quick response.
