Dell XPS 14z (L412z) Screen Replacement

Can anyone recommend a place to get another LCD screen for the Dell XPS 14z (L412z) model? I am tempted to just buy a Lenovo laptop if I cannot find it anywhere else. I've checked and placed orders to more than one company and have been issued a refund due to the product not being in stock. $299 from Dell is just considerably unreasonable at this time for me and I would probably rather put that towards another manufacturer's laptop.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your reply, ejn63. However, I've tried placing my order through them as well. Although they took my cash, they quickly issued me a refund and sent me an email apologizing for the inconvenience. They were also out of stock although their site doesn't state that.

I have also been looking for a replacement screen for my XPS 14z.  My lcd  is part LP140WH6-TJA1.  I can not find it anywhere.   I was quoted $200 from Dell for a used LCD plus assembly.  That is ridiculous!   It is unbelievable that replacement parts are not available for such a recent Dell laptop.  Anyone from Dell wish to comment or direct me to where a replacement can be purchased?

Yeah man, that's the same thing I said. Considering it's only been out for a little over a year, I'm surprised as well.

Please, if you find some site that's selling it and actually have them in stock, let me know. I will also post back here too if I'm successful with finding a site that has these LCDs in stock. It's very annoying, and I really don't want to have to revert to buying another laptop provided that Dell's the only source for this screen.

Just tried buying the part from dell.  They are out of stock.  So now there is NOBODY who has the parts necessary to fix this product.  A year ago, the XPS was dell's flagship product.  Now it can't be fixed because they don't stock the parts.  How can we trust Dell with future purchases if they won't minimally support recent products?

Wow dude just freaking ridiculous. How is there not a single batch of these screens? Especially considering a lot of people crack screens these days. I'm going with Lenovo. Just probably going to turn this XPS into a server or something. I'm completely disappointed in Dell and I've ALWAYS spoke highly of their service.

Make me next in line if there becomes a place to find one.  I got this laptop for a good price thinking I could find SOMEONE that had a screen in stock.  Boy, was I wrong.  I've done every google search imaginable to find a place that has one.  The ones that "do" have them "in stock" end up emailing me back to confirm part numbers and either refund me or in one case have had the wrong screen sent out to me, which I have to return now.  How dissapointing!  I really like the construction of this laptop, but Dell needs to do a better job of reasonably pricing their replacement screens.  $150 I could swallow, but 250-300 is a joke!  Feel free moderator from Dell to message me back if you can do better.  I'm wondering why some LCD makers in China haven't capitalized on this little market yet.  There will be more of us with broken laptops otherwise.

Agreed. Same boat here. Got issued a refund from two companies as they didn't have it in stock, although their website showed them in stock. Talking about pissed off. I've been sitting on external display for quite awhile now, and getting tired of it. Craigslist ad posted not too long ago. Hope to get rid of this trash pretty soon. Last Dell product.

DO NOT BUY A DELL XPS 14Z. NO REPLACEMENT SCREENS AVAILABLE

I have had Dell Laptops in the past and they were excellant. I recently purchased a new XPS 14Z which was good until my 3 year old broke the screen.

I have searched with every computer repair shop in the Middle East, on Amazon and with DELL. Nobody has one available.

It is unacceptable that DELL does not stock any spare screens for their flagship model considering that a broken screen has a high probability of occurring.

What type of business model is this? Customer service and support obviously does not matter

You will just have to keep on searching eBay or other online websites for the LCD screen or better yet the whole assembly if any if your old lid is damaged.  Expect to pay $200 or more for just the lcd and $250 for the assembly. Complete disassembly of the laptop will be required to remove the old LCD lid from the frame of the laptop. Just look at the videos for similar computers to get an idea of how to r&r everything from YouTube. I found one for xps15z the helped me get an idea of what was required. 2 hrs later I had a working laptop :) good luck.
