Dell XPS 15 L502x is not detecting NVIDIA Graphics Card

Hello, for some reason my Dell XPS 15 L502x is not detecting my NVIDIA graphics card. I have tried uninstalling the PCI Express Root Port in the Device Manager and rebooting, and that did not work. I also tried completely uninstalling the Intel HD Integrated Graphics (and drivers) and rebooting, and that has not worked either. I have tried updating the BIOS and that has not worked. I am unsure as to what the problem is. I bought the laptop summer 2011, and have never had a problem with it before. I am currently running Windows 8.

Hi pennkid88,

Welcome to the Community.

Turn off the system. Unplug the adapter and the battery. Press and hold power button for 10 seconds. Plugin the adapter. Press and hold Fn key and turn on the system. This will start the diagnostics on the system.

If the diagnostics pass with no error codes and the system is in warranty, send me the service tag and the name listed on the account in a private message.

Thanks & Regards

Hello

I am having the exact same problem, my computer is not recognizing my nvidia graphic card, only de intel integrated one. I have tried to download and install de driver from the DELL website but it wont let me install it,it keeps saying that I need to install a dell driver, which is what i am trying to do. It also tells me that the driver is not compatible with the card, i guess that's because it is not recognizing the nvidia card. Please help me, i don't knoe what else to do.

Thanks!!

Hi morgan0888,

Please let me know from when the NVidia card is not getting detected. Did you make any hardware/software changes?

Please check the video card status in the Device manager.
To go to Device manager click on ‘Start’ and in the Search box type ‘Device manager’. Click on ‘Device Manager’ folder. In the ‘Device Manager’ screen click on the triangle to the left of ‘Display adapters’. Reply with the status. If possible provide the screen shot of the same.

Also send me a private message with the system service tag to assist you further. Please click on my name and click Start Conversation to send me a private message.
