E6420 NO LCD display
Issue is that when booting, screen goes black after "Starting Windows" screen. i5 processor with intel integrated graphics. If I disable the HD intel 3000 video driver, LCD works, but in 800 x 600 analog resolution only. If I connext to a monitor or TV using the VGA or HDMI outputs, video is high resolution and all is good, however the display on the laptop will not display it. I ran the dell diagnostics using F12, and got a 2000-0333 error. Looked it up on the dell support site and was told to update the BIOS. Did that, no change. Ran the online diagnostics via the dell site, all video related tests passed. Ive also tried discharging the on board battery as I read on some forum here by removing the battery and holding the power button for 20 seconds. No change. This is extremely frustrating as I have no idea if i have a software issue or a hardware issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

2000-0333 means an interactive test failure -- i.e., a prompt you either didn't see or didn't respond to.
If you're getting a good display externally, it's likely the internal LCD is bad -- that's the next step: replace the display panel.

Is it possible for the LCD to still work when the adapter is disabled and the LCD be bad? Is it possible that just a connector came loose? Im trying to rule things out before I buy an expensive LCD replacement. I suppose with all that I've tried, it must be the LCD.

Also, if the LCD was bad, wouldn't that come up in the diagnostics test? The 0333 error occured because I could not respond to the input required in the test becuase the screen was black.

The LCD test is interactive - there's no real way to automate the testing. You can hold the D key through powerup to see if you can access the built-in LCD test - you should see cycling solid color screens. If you don't, the LCD is definitely bad -- but even that test is basic. If you still see the screen go black in normal operation, but there is a good image externally, it's the LCD controller that's bad -- the display will need to be replaced.
