Inspiron 1420 - battery does not charge
Hi,
I have a Inspiron 1420 and the problem I am facing is that the battery does not charge. I tried replacing the battery - that did not work. Tried running all the set-up tests - nothing came out of that. Tried reseating the battery properly - did not work. I can use the laptop just fine as long as it is plugged into a power supply - so pretty much like a desktop.
Am wondering if anybody else may have come across a similar issue and what they did. Any suggestions/ideas are welcome.
Regards
Anu

Most likely the DC socket on the system board is faulty. Solder connections to the system baord can break. Options are to have an expert shop try to resolder the connections or replace the system board. If under warranty, contact Dell. If out of warranty, replacing the board will cost $400-500.

Anu,
I also have an Inspiron 1420 and my battery has also stopped charging. It is extremely frustrating. I haven't bought a new battery yet. I wanted to see if the problem might be something else. But was surprised to find your post.. This problem makes the computer super slow!! Somebody....help!
