On my 5150 with BIOS A29, fangui doesn't seem to report fan speed correctly. There's no way the fan is spinning faster than 100k rpm. Not sure what program you are using to report, but thought this may be of interest.

I have the I5100 and you are right the fan speed doesn't display properly but I use it as a reference point to 1. ensure it is running, 2. I can see if it goes up or down. Mine usually runs about 94,000 low speed and about 145,500 in high speed... It is just a number for reference anyway I know it isn't running at 94 thousand RPM, just like I can hear when it shifts into high I know it is shifted. If I know it normally reads 94,000 and say it is only reading 10,000 I can pretty well expect I have a problem... But FYI you can control the first fan speed manually with fangui no second fan available on the 5100, when I'm doing graphics work or games I shift it to high speed for the cooling.
Forgot to add my battery life usually is 2.5 - 3 hours closer to 2 watching DVD.

I read once on this board that the fanGUI was written for a different laptop. To get the right RPM, you have to divide the reading by 30. It is a multiplication factor written in the program for that specific laptop. I believe that it was for the 8600 model.

pepe,
Mine runs about 42 - 45 surfing the net word etc... It looks like you have the dreaded dust monster. Get a can of compressed air and blow into the rear ports with the notebook off, this should blow the dust out the bottom. It may take several spurts. If you do this monthly you should not have any more problems. If this fails you could remove the fan assembly and clean it, (if it is out of warranty)
