Inspiron 6400 model PP20L will not power up
Hi - New to this forum but its the best i've come accross for Dell - I have jrecently updated windows and left m/c for a couple of hours after being on the net and all was working ok. M/c went into normal sleep mode but now I cannot power up at all. Have lights 9,A,and arrow lights on for just 5 seconds and all power goes off. Tried my friends power supply 4.3 amps (original supplied was only 3.4 but m/c should have had the larger one looking at required power on base) I've tried holding down Fn key and F8 but nothing happens. What should i check to see if this is terminal --

Try it without the battery. If it'll power up, the battery is faulty.
If two adapters won't start up the system, and the battery is OK, then the mainboard is faulty.

A board will run about $350-400, plus labor to install.
