Latitude D620 D/Port ARP will not recognize USBs or network

Have been using the D/Port ARP successfully for six or seven months with my Latitude D620 (that's the only computer using this particular port). It worked fine the night before last but the next morning it stopped recognizing the USBs (keyboard, mouse) as well as the network (LAN). It does, however, recognize my monitor. I called Dell and since this D/Port was bundled with my Latitude D620 which I purchased less than one year ago, Dell sent me a new port. Got it this morning but I am still having the same issue.

Odd thing is that my USBs and network work fine on my laptop when it's not plugged into the ARP.

Here's what I've done so far:
- updated BIOS from A07 to A08
- reinstalled drivers

I understand that there are no drivers for the port replicator so I didn't do anything specific to the ARP.

I have the same problem with my D830, it just started in the last week. It has worked fine with XP Pro since August when I bought the laptop. The ARP is recognized and works if the laptop is off when docked then turned on. If it is docked "hot" the AC connection is seen right away but not the ARP , it either takes about 4 minutes for it to be realize the dock is there and USB works sometimes not others.
I talked to Dell support and their solution is that I must have done something and I need to reinstall everything. It worked great for 3 months fine, the only thing I have done in the last two weeks is update the BIOS and the video drivers. Since I am not using external monitors through the dock I can only assume it's the newest BIOS rev. that would be the issue or a windows update that I don't remember but how would that affect a dock?

If you plug a new USB device into one or any of the USB ports on the actual laptop, is the device recognised? The problem I had with a few D620's was that neither the laptop nor the APR recognised any USB device plugged into them, whether a keyboard, mouse or USB stick.

The fix in my case was that the file usb.inf was either damaged or missing on the system and when I replaced the inf file with one taken from a working XP system, USB devices worked again after replacing the file.

I hope this helps.

I am having an identical issue.  Note that this is not only a USB port but the entire APR is not recognized.

I can turn on the laptop via the power button on the APR and monitor works...but ethernet and USB ports do not work.

Has anyone found a solution?

The problem I was having was that it didn’t recognize being docked as well.  I could use the laptop but not in the docking station.

Dell replaced the mother board in it and it works fine now

This is a rather late addition to this chain of posts, but I was having a similar problem of the USB hard drive attached to the APR not being recognized when I booted or re-booted my D-620 laptop.  I installed the Notebook System Software utility from Dell's download site, and that seems to have solved the problem.  I have had about a half dozen boots in a row where the hard drive has been recognized.  The following statement appears in the description of the utility: "Notebook System Software is critical for the correct operation of USB devices, including the Dell D/Bay, D/Dock, D/Port, and D/View."

I just had a similar problem with a D830, when in the dock no USB or sound, video port and network ports worked.  This user has two offices with two Docks.  I found the problem was that a new Hardware Profile was built in the OS (XP SP3).  I booted it undocked and deleted the extra profile then rebooted it on the dock and everything started working.
