Latitude XT and Media Base PR12S
I recently purchased a latitude XT along with a PR12S media base (with CD). The tablet so far is working great, however the media base not so much so any help would be greatly appreciated. I am completely up to date with my service packs, etc. running Win 7 and have installed the latest BIOS update from Dell. When I dock my XT and go into the BIOS the media base does not show up, that being said I do see the cd spin up on startup, but again it never shows up in BIOS and the CD is not available in the one time boot menu.
Once in Windows I see the USB device within the media base and am using external usb keyboard mouse etc. through the base, external monitor support is available and working through the base, but no CD. The battery shows fully charged, however it does not show up as plugged in (on AC power). The other non function item is the audio out, it does not work from the base but works through the tablet port directly.
I have browsed quite a bit and the media base option I have seen is only the PR12S, does anyone have any input on maybe what I am missing or maybe a different part number that I have not found. or maybe a driver I am missing?
One last note on the drivers, I have also updated the TUSB driver to the most current available as well as the N-Trig digitizer.
Thanks so much in advance for your help and have a good one!

Did you ever get these issues worked out? I'm thinking of buying one for my XT2 and would like to learn a bit more about what to expect.

I am having similar problems. Latitude XT with XT2 dock (PR12S). Everything on the dock works great except for the CD/DVD drive, which I cannot get to show up at all. I've checked drivers, made sure all drivers are up to date on the system, etc. All ports on the dock work just fine (SD, video, USB, etc.). When I close the drive, it spins up. But the drive is not recognized, and of course, whatever disc I put in is inaccessible. Help would be extremely appreciated! Thnx. I've been searching the web and Dell's support site for solutions for several weeks now.

In my situation it turned out to be that a PR12S is not always a PR12S. I'm not sure if its different revisions of the product but check below the centronics connector and count the number of large contacts there are. The first one I bought had two, that was the issue. It needs to be the one that has the four large contacts for it to be properly recognized. Im not sure if the centronics pinout is different as well but that is what resolved my issue. I know on eBay I wound up getting the one that worked from a store named Red Planet. And I had them verify it had the four contacts before they shipped. Hope this helps. Oh yeah; another issue pointing to the revision being the issue is that although the base functions it is never properly recognized in device manager.
