Studio XPS 13/1340, What is the maximum memory speed supported?

What is the maximum RAM speed supported by the Dell Studio XPS 13/1340? I know the default RAM speed is 1066MHz, but I just wanted to know if it can support a higher clock speed.

SAM OF MIZORAM

Below are the memory specs for this computer.

Memory Connectors Two internally-accessible SO-DIMM sockets
Memory Capacities 512 MB, 1 GB, and 2 GB
Memory Type 1066 MHz DDR3 SODIMM
Possible memory configuration 2 GB, 3 GB, 4 GB, 5 GB, 6 GB, 8 GB

Memory

The Studio XPS™ 1340/13 system supports dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM with memory speeds of 1067 MHz. At 1067 MHz, this memory offers a significant increase of memory performance over previous platforms.

  • The memory solution is implemented in a dual-channel configuration, allowing the system to have twice the memory bandwidth while using the same memory technology.
  • Memory modules must be installed as a perfectly matched pair to take advantage of the dual-channel memory bus. If not a matched pair, the system's memory bus operates in a single-channel configuration.

Memory Configuration

This system has two user-accessible slots for installing memory. Both slots are accessible from the bottom of the computer and are "stacked" on top of each other. Dell offers two different size memory modules (at RTS) that can be used in these slots: 1024 MB, and 2048 MB. Post RTS memory modules of higher capacities will be offered to allow the system configuration of up to 8 GB. These offerings allow memory configurations as follows:

Studio XPS™ 1340/13 DIMM Configuration
Slot A Slot B Total Memory
1024 MB 1024 MB 2048 MB
2048 MB 1024 MB 3072 MB
2048 MB 2048 MB 4096 MB
4096 MB 1024 MB 5120MB *
4096 MB 2048 MB 6144 MB *
4096 MB 4096 MB 8192 MB *

Thank you for the information. I am sorry I did not say it in the first post. Will it support 1600MHz speed of 8GB? Like the Corsair CMSX4GX3M1A1600C9 Vengeance 4GB Memory Upgrade Kit which I believe is 1600MHz. Or shoul I stick with the 1066MHz?

The memory will downclock to DDR-1066 speed - the system chipset cannot run the memory bus any faster than that.
