XPS 1530 laptop - 'TAB' key not responding
I have a DELL XPS 1530 laptop running Windows Vista (32 bit) and my TAB key has stopped responding.
The laptop is only a few months old and the keyboard is very clean so there's nothing stuck under they key - it just literally won't respond. My Operating system is up to date as are the drivers for the keyboard so I'm a bit stumped! Any help you can give me will be much appreciated :)

Thanks, but I think I'll leave that route well alone! :D.
It's only today that I noticed it, so I am wondering if it's more to do with settings that anything hardware related. As I say, the keyboard is in mint condition and I don't use any applications that cause me to 'over use' the TAB key and no other keys are affected.

If you feel technically inclined, try this: (This will not void the warranty unless you break something. Try very hard not to if you don't feel comfortable then don't attempt)
Remove the battery. For safety-sake, remove the small black screws that look like they might be securing the top bezel. Turn the laptop over. Find a plastic knife or spatula with a square edge. Use the edge to pry off the bezel above the keyboard off. Be careful if there are wires connecting it to the body of the unit. Under this there may be screws holding the keyboard on. Remove them if there are. Under the keyboard is a flat cable connecting it to a long edge slot on the body of the unit. There is a small plastic edge that you can carefully flip up to release the flat cable. Reseat the cable and make sure it is all the way into the slot before pressing the edge back down to secure it. Reverse all directions and put the thing back together. Try it again. If it persists then the keyboard might need to be replaced.

I just gave it a once over with my trusty air blower and found the culprit - a teeny weeny bit of potato chip. :smileyvery-happy: (that'll have to serve as an 'embarrassed grin' smiley).
