red trails/ghosting (esp with mouse cursor) on XPS 15 L501X B+RGLED screen

I just got a (refurb) XPS 15 with the FHD B+RGLED screen. I love the computer so far except for one thing. (Actually, two things, one being that the hard drive access LED is behind the lid so you can't see it unless you lower the lid... what a terrible design decision... and the other described below.)

I like having a black background for my desktop, but I found out I get these weird red artifacts or trails from the mouse cursor. I see red trails from other things like the scrolling credits in Left 4 Dead 2 after you finish an episode, which also has a black background. This issue appears in most, but not all, areas of the screen. I'm certain it's the display, because it doesn't happen on my external monitor.

Here are a couple of pics below:

In the first pic I'm moving the mouse up and down. Notice the red dots of where the mouse used to be. In the second pic I'm moving it in a circle. Note the arc trail of red.

I tried to ignore it but it's starting to bug me now. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Thanks :)

I have the exact same problem and it's slowly annoying me more and more.

I've also found that when there are bright moving reds surrounded by black it can leave a pretty bad ghost trail as well.

I see you posted this a while ago, have you found a solution?

Thanks

I contacted customer support and they generated a support ticket to send it off to the repair depot. Of course, it came back un-repaired since they claim that they couldn't reproduce the issue. So I contacted customer support again and they sent out a tech to replace the screen. After that, no more red trails!

It seems like that's the only way to fix the problem...
