resolution limited to 1024x768

Question

Howdy!

System: Inspiron 5100, P4 2.4GHz, 512Mb, ATI Radeon 7500 32Mb, Windows XP Pro

My resolution is limited to 1024x768. I can't set a higher reslotion than that under display properties in windows.

I've got the latest drivers from Dell's homepage.

Any suggestions?

This problem usually occurs when one fails to fully uninstall the previous video driver before installing the new one.

LCD screens have a maximum, or optimal, resolution associated with them and can only display a clear, full-screen image at that resolution. Your 5100 has a resolution of 1024x768.
