Dell Latitude E6330 boot problem

Good afternoon,

I'm attempting to repair a Dell Latitude e6330 I have received, but I cannot get it to boot.

When I plug the laptop in with no battery and just the power adapter the power button lights up.

When I push the power button the fan starts up and then 5 seconds later the hard-drive light blinks once and   the laptop shuts off. (No Display at all)

If I hold FN+Power Button, I do get the battery LED to blink white, and if I do leave it for about 2 mins I hear the fan starting up again for about 10 seconds then stops.

I have tried all the basic steps as in re-seating ram, removing battery, HD, CMOS Battery and I've also drained the residual power.

Just to add onto this, I do hear the hardrive running as well as it is in this state, but no display.

Create a bootable USB flash drive of some sort of Linux.

If you can boot into it, then the motherboard is fine.

If you can't then you have a bad laptop.

I'll give it shot, would I just use the USB drive the same way if I was to update the BIOS? Like load the Linux onto the USB drive and just plug it in and start up the laptop?
