Dell Latitude Screen Locks Randomly

I have identified an issue with Dell Latitude laptops causing the screen to randomly turn off.  This requires the user to wake the computer again and re-login. The issue was happening on two different Latitude models manufactured between 2018 and early 2019.  The issue is caused by the end users wearing a FitBit, or more specifically a FitBit with a magnetic clasp.  If the user runs the magnet over the bottom right corner of the Laptop it will turn off the screen! Obviously, magnets aren't great for computers, but this is clearly a design flaw.  For now, the user has to take off her watch every time she wants to use her laptop! The magnet isn't particularly strong, so i can imagine this will happen more frequently.

Thanks,

Welcome to the Dell Community  @Alec N.

Located around the LCD bezel is a small magnet.

Located around the Keyboard is a Reed Switch.

When the LCD is closed it will trip the reed switch and turn off the LCD.

You can try to change the "Advanced Settings" for "Power Buttons and Lid"

Then run a small magnet over the reed switch to see if it works for you.
