Graphics Card Upgrade And Cause Of Laptop (E5520) To Stutter Every 3 Minutes

Hello everyone,

I hope that you are having an amazing day. I want to upgrade my graphics card from the Intel Graphics 3000 to a tier higher or one that is much better and compatible. What can you recommend me for this? Also, from April of last year until now, my laptop hangs every 2 to 3 minutes when I play games and sometimes when I do work and browsing. What do you think that is the cause of this? I have taken my laptop to a computer shop and the technician told me that my computer's speed is very slow. Is it because of either the HDD or SSD? If it is one or are both of these, what will you advise me to do and recommend for changing or replacing them? I will appreciate the recommendations and advises

The GPU is integrated in the CPU so you cannot just upgrade the GPU unless you replace the CPU, which is possible in the E5520. Keep in mind that going from an HDD to an SSD will only increase the speed that programs are accessed and opened, not how fast the system will run. My first question would be how much RAM is installed in the system? The E5520 can take a maximum of 8 GB of RAM and if you only have 1 or 2 GB that would really slow the system down. The E5520 takes either 1, 2, 4, or 8 GB of RAM in total.

One more thing to consider. The E5520 is approaching 8 years old and that is part of the problem. Are you sure you want to spend money on trying to update an old system which will bring marginal results, or purchase a new faster system with current technology?

I am so sorry for the late reply. It has 8gb in RAM. I was just guessing if the HDD possibly having issues is causing the 3 minute overlapping hang. I knew that I could be wrong about this. As I have told you, when I play video games, browse on the internet and use some applications, it hangs every 3 minutes. I mean that some apps, the browser and games stutter. I want to know what is making this happen and how can I fix this. Please help me
