Latitude E5550 headphones not working in jack docking station

There is no audio when headphones are plugged into the jack on the docking station. They do work when plugged directly into the laptop. In the sound control panel window the jack activates as the default device when something is plugged into the dock jack and the level fluctuates when a test is done. Volume is all the way up and not muted. Any fix for this?
