Lost audio after SSD upgrade
First of all, I apologize for posting a message here but there is no option for my Studio 1745 laptop.
I cloned my hard drive to an SSD. Everything is working after the upgrade except I have lost the audio.
There is an X on the speaker icon and right clicking on it comes up with "No audio devices are installed".
Going to the Device Manager, in Windows 7, shows no "Sound, video, and game controllers"
I'm thinking that the driver may be corrupted. I went to https://www.drivers-dell.com/dell-studio-1745-laptop-audio-driver/
The suggested driver was: Dell Studio 1745 Laptop IDT 92HD73C1 Audio Driver for windows
I downloaded the driver which is R229494. I ran the .exe file and then the Configuring IDT Audio Driver and Applications window came up. I then get "The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The install will be aborted"
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Lloyd Korb

Thanks for your input. I did a little searching for this problem and found a cure. If I would have noticed the yellow
problem symbol under the Device Manager it would have helped me figure it out. Just getting too old and having a hard time seeing the small stuff.
I did an un-install, and rebooted the laptop. After it came up, it "found new hardware" and loaded the driver. Now works fine.

Upgrading an SSD does not cause lost audio unless you inadvertently dislocated something inside the laptop when changing the SSD.
Put back the old hard drive. If the problem persists, then you know something with the hardware.

The problem was there before the SSD upgrade?
I can totally relate about eyes not being able to see the small print.
