SupportAssist not working, responding, updating.

I am having trouble with SupportAssist.

I have read numerous and troubleshoot a few ideas listed on the Dell Community Troubleshooting and nothing worked so far.

I have follow the instruction of the moderator below and still not able to installed the SupportAssist program.  I would get update notices from Dell... and each time I try to update, or try to detect my computer for updates, it tells me that I need to download and install the SupportAssist.   I have tried installing it numerous time and I always get this error message.   Even after I have followed the Moderator's instructions below.   Nothing works.

Can someone help me please.  Thanks

RE: Control Panel won't uninstall Support Assist Agent

You can try this...

1)      Uninstall Dell SupportAssist and Dell SupportAssist Agent from Control Panel – Programs & Features

2)      Remove these folders

  1. C:\Program Files\Dell\ DellDataVault
  2. C:\Program Files\Dell\ SupportAssist
  3. Click start & Run, Type- %ProgramData% and enter. Delete the PCDR folder.
  4. Click start & Run, Type- %AppData% and enter. Delete the PCDR folder.

3)      Click on start run, type regedit, this opens the registry. Make sure the SupportAssistAgent folder does not exists in this location, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Dell\SupportAssistAgent. If the folder is present right click and say delete.

4)      Restart the machine

Hi Lyne0474,

Thanks for posting. Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

Unfortunately the information you are following is 3 years old.  The SupportAssist program has been changed a few times since then.

Please remove all instances of the SupportAssist program from your computer.  You may need to use a 3rd party removal tool to assist with this process.  Some users have reported at least 2, sometimes 3 instances of the program on their computers.

Once that's done, then download the latest version of SupportAssist from the website.

If you need additional assistance, please contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information (name, address, telephone, email) and your computer's service tag number in your message. Thanks.

Hi Dell-Robert P, I have tried what you said, "removed all instances of the SupportAssist program from your computer. You may need to use a 3rd party removal tool to assist with this process. Some users have reported at least 2, sometimes 3 instances of the program on their computers. Once I that's done, then download the latest version of SupportAssist from the website." Did all that and downloaded the new version. Getting this error message: Installation Cancelled: We encountered an unexpected error while installing Support Assist. This may be due to a lost of internet connection. Check your connection and try again. I have not lost the internet, tried numerous time.. always the same results. What do I do now??? Thanks

Very slow start up of my laptop. Laptop Latitude E6540 Service Tag 9D2HVZ1 out of warranty. Running Win 10 Pro Version 1809, Build 17763.134 latest updates installed. Upgraded from Win 7 Pro under free offer 2015? From MS Community ran an SFC /SCANNOW which showed no violations. Microsoft community help points me to Support Assist from Dell however when downloading and installing it only gets as far as “Download and installing Support Assist start up files” and just hangs there. Message saying “depending on the speed of your pc this installation can take several minutes” I have tried 3 times leaving the support assist installer running for 30 mins plus. Once from link in MS Community and twice from Dell Support site TMWGray
