Using Dell precision 7710 Type-C port for DP Alt Mode or Thunderbolt 3 for Video Output

@nikamvd  According to the Precision 7710 spec sheet here, Thunderbolt 3 is optional on that system.  But if your system has it, then it would also support DP Alt Mode because DP Alt Mode support is mandatory for any port that supports Thunderbolt 3.  But if you haven't bought the system yet and plan to use a docking station, I'd look at the 7730 or newer because the 7x30 models added dual TB3 ports, which means you can use the Dell WD19DC docking station.  That model plugs into both connectors in order to supply up to 210W of power to the attached system, which is enough to run the system properly.  Other docking stations, even Dell docking stations, can only supply up to 130W, which isn't enough to run the system optimally, so you'd either have to keep the system's AC adapter connected separately or else put up with reduced performance.  If you don't care about a dock, then no worries.

My Dell Precision 7710 already have functioning Type-C port. I wanted to confirm whether its Thunderbolt 3 similar to what is present in Macbook Pro Retina. The specification you shared with me for Dell Precision 7710 confirms that its Thunderbolt 3.

Let me explain you in brief; what I want to achieve. I have Dell Precision 7710 and MacBook Pro Retina that I use one of the either at a time. I also have old monitor that has VGA port. I want to buy Type-C to VGA converter so that I can connect my old monitor with MacBook Pro for the bigger display. And want to share same cable with my Dell Precision 7710 when I am not using MacBook.

So my main question is: can same Type-C to VGA converter will work with Dell Precision 7710 to connect to my old VGA monitor using its working Type-C port (thunderbolt 3), the way it works with MacBook Pro retina?
