Dell XPS 12 running ubuntu - touchscreen doesn't work after replacing

I have been running ubuntu successfully on my ubuntu xps 12 for several years. Recently my screen's display quality started degrading to the extent that it needed replacement. (During this time the touchscreen continued to function). After replacing the screen however, the touch functionality no longer works.

Running xinput --list produces the following output:

⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Microsoft Microsoft® 2.4GHz Transceiver v7.0 id=11 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Microsoft Microsoft® 2.4GHz Transceiver v7.0 id=12 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ CyPS/2 Cypress Trackpad id=15 [slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=8 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Logitech Logitech USB Headset id=9 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Microsoft Microsoft® 2.4GHz Transceiver v7.0 id=10 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_1.3M id=13 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=14 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Dell WMI hotkeys id=16 [slave keyboard (3)]

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be wrong (other than hardware failure)?

I'm sorry that this isn't an anser to your question, but could you clarify about your experience running linux on the machine?  Is it true that the machine doesn't properly suspend to ram?

I appreciate the info!
