Update bios in DELL XPS 9360 laptop running ubuntu?
Hi there,
I'm running Ubuntu 16.0.4. Linux on a Dell XPS 9360 laptop. I noticed I have still one update to install. Please see image below. How do I install this update? Pushing the restart & install button doesn't work.

even easier:
Use fwupdmgr.
See: "Basic usage flow (command line)"
Worked for me yesterday.
even more easier:
They are supposed to eventually show in Software Center and you can get them installed via GUI there. Haven't checked that myself yet - fwupdmgr worked nicely for me.

Hi,
I'm trying to update my Dell XPS 9360 BIOS and followed your steps but I ran into something weird.
Regarding to Save it to /boot/efi did you had that folder already created or did you create it? I can't find that folder under /boot but I created it and moved the .exe archive to it, then restarted the laptop and pressed F12 but didn't find the BIOS Upgrade option anywhere so I let ubuntu start and found myself in an infinite loop while trying to login, after typing the passwd and hitting enter the screen went black for a brief and then the login window appeared again.. I had to do Ctrl + Alt + F3 to login via command line and deleted the "efi" folder I created and after rebooting I was able to login normally again.
Hope you can give me a heads up with this because I'm having recognition troubles with my D3000 dock and need to update the BIOS in order to see if this fixs it.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Did you create the efi folder in /boot? Or it was already created?

I have just checked and my system has already had the /boot/efi folder. Maybe it was created during previous updates though.
