Trying to install RH9 on a Dell precission 650

A Dell Precission 650 just arrived here (CDF0B41)

It thought it would come with linux installed on one harddrive and an extra harddrive that we could install Windows XP on.

Anyway, so I repartitioned the machine.

Installed Windows XP on one drive (the only thing complaining about is that it doesn't have a driver for an "SM Bus controller")

Then I wanted to install RH9 on the other harddrive, but it won't do that in graphics mode. when I install in text mode it doesn't seem to get past firstboot when rebooted.

How (and what do I use) tore-instyall RH9 on this machine ?
