Venue 11 Pro 7140 Event ID 256 DPTF

Event Viewer shows this error over and over:

Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework: ESIF(8.0.10002.14) TYPE:ERROR

DPTF Build Version 8.0.10002.14

DPTF Build Date Jun 10 2014 12:43:14

Source File: ..\..\..\..\Sources\PolicyLib\PolicyBase.cpp @ line 553

Executing Function: PolicyBase::takeControlOfOsc

Message: Failed to acquire OSC

Policy: [1]

Any solutions?  Can't find any help anywhere!

So it turns out that this is an issue with the BIOS trying to reference a non-existent thermal object.   Since the object isn't actually there it will generate an Event Viewer error at boot.

The good news is that there is no negative impact or functionality issue from this occurring.

This will be fixed in the A04 BIOS, which isn't due for a while.   There is not a short term solution at this time.

Thanks.

Haven't seen or heard of this before.   Assume this is a new system?   Any problems occurring other than above or as a result of error?    Does it continue to happen again and again after cleared?

Thanks for responding.....Service Tag:  purchased 12-01-2014

Error occurs twice on each boot without fail.

Uninstalled/reinstalled Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Driver...no change.

Cannot detect any issues related to this error, nor do I experience any other problems.

This is an awesome machine.  The error is annoying, though.
