1901FP Monitor

Running WinXP Pro
with two monitors

2007WFP Flat Panel Monitor is connected analog -
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/2007WFP/en/setup.htm#Using%20the%20Front%20Panel%20Buttons  The recommended resolution is 1680x1050!  How can anyone see comfortably at that size!  I have my monitor set at 1280x768 and it is okay however the text is not clear, which is annoying but I can live with it.  I've tried all the clear type adjustments and they don't help.  The problem is the monitor is not set at the recommended resolution.

My question/problem is ... the 1901FP (digital) - brightness is 100% ... no contrast setting because it is digital.  White is not white, it is very yellow.  Can this be corrected?

Just want to add that when I do the self test on the digital ... it indicates 'analog' ... but when I go to properties, etc.,  it is most definitely digital! ?

 RADEON Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series

Thanks,
Linda

chadk11,

Switch the monitors on the video card. How are the whites on the 1901FP using analog?

Thanks so much for replying Chris.

When I do the self-test it indicates 'analog' (white connection) ... when the self-test ends it indicates 2: idigital input on the screen

Please explain what you mean 'switch monitors on the video card' ... should I switch the connections and connect the 1901FP to blue and 2007WFP to white?

Thanks!

Switched them and it didn't help.  Odd thing though, when the 1901FP is set digital the self-test says analog but when the self test ends a digital input flashes ... when it was set analog the self-test said digital and when the test ended analog input flashed!

chadk11,

With it on analog, you should be able to adjust the contrast. Does it help?

Thanks for following-up.

When set as analog I was able to adjust the contrast ... unfortunately it didn't help the discoloration.  I had a different degree of brightness/contrast but I can't even say the adjustments were better, so I switched back to digital.

Could my video card be involved?

Dell support helped me update video card drivers about a month ago ... they were unable to install the ATI Catalyst(R) Control Center!  Shortly thereafter I had a few blue screens and (knock on wood) in recent weeks no more blue screens.

Why does one monitor need to be analog and the other digital?

Thanks,
Linda
