1907FPV owners! What is the LCD panel inside this model?

What is the LCD panel inside the 1907FPV? Note: Not interested in 1907FP results.

Please report using the "Service Menu" section of:

I can't access the monitor now as it is at my parents' place.   I saw on Prad.de that it has an MVA panel. So it is probably AU Optronics   As I have a 1907FP at work,  I know viewing angles are limited (Samsung TN panel verified in service menu), so I had my father specifically order the 1907 FPV with his new system...   What do you know, Dell shipped a 1907FP anyway!  So he returned the FP and got an FPV. I can attest to the difference: Viewing angle is markedly wider in all four directions with the FPV. Also, for some reason, the text seems easier to read, easier on the eyes, on the FPV, even though I adjusted both monitors.   You are right to prefer the 1907 FPV over the 1907 FP. Hopefully, better late than never...   I went to my parents' and accessed the factory menu. The panel is listed as:   1907FPVt   LTM190E4-L02   V1T03   No manufacturer name appears.   From what I have found, it is not an MVA panel, as listed on prad.de, but rather a Samsung PVA panel. Specifications are there:   http://www.samsung.com/Products/TFTLCD/Monitor/LTM190E4/LTM190E4.htm    And I am confirming it is markedly better than the TN panel in my 1907 FP at work

I received my 1907FPVt and it reads in the factory settings:

1907FPVt AMLCD (LTM190E4-L02) V1T03

I am very pleased with the 1907FPV monitor; it has vivid colours, great viewing angles, crisp text, even backlighting and no dead pixels! It is significantly better than the Samsung 940B TN model that evaluated and returned.

The brightness does not have much of a range. Is this a defect or typical of for LCDs? I will investigate further.

I also received a response from Samsung about the LTM190E4-L02 panel.
I inquired about the LCD panel only and NOT the Dell monitor.

I do have 2 versions of the datasheet for model LTM190E4-L02:

The Samsung website states some monitors as 16.7M (true 8-bit) and others just 16.7M colours:

Thanks glv for following up. My parents' monitor also has AMLCD in the panel info, but I didn't report this as I found out it only means Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display.   You have exactly the same panel number/rev as 'my' monitor.   No doubt PVA is much better than TN for viewing angles.

It doesn't help that Dell has been known to switch panels inside the same monitor aka 'panel lottery' :smileyindifferent:   For my own LCD monitor purchase, hopefully this year, I am waiting for the nearest of these events:   -- 2407FP drops to my price range (still $200 to go when on sale...Come on Down!)   -- new 22-inch wide monitor with PVA, MVA or IPS panel. I have too many problems with the limited vision angles of TN panels at the 18 to 24 inches distance I have to position the monitor.

I was showing a friend today all the "misinformation" on the Internet regarding LCDs and other topics.

Interestingly enough,

now reports the 1707FPV and 1907FPV as PVA (8-bit) monitors! It previously reported them as 6-bit monitors. The change is in the history and was done on Jan. 17, 2007. Once again, it is hoped that the source of information is accurate.

The Internet is a source of both information and disinformation like all other media.
