2001FP - cannot get a signal from X800 Pro DVI

Purchased 2 2001FP 20.1" LCD monitors to run in dual-screen config on my Powercolor Radeon X800 Pro, but I cannot get the DVI-I output to make any picture with either enclosed DVI-D cable.

Using a DVI-I to D-Sub converter I can get dual analog setup, but I want to use the D-Sub on one screen for a second PC so this is not an option for me.

No POST appears during bootup, neither does XP SP2 detect a monitor connected to the card.

Catalyst 5.4 drivers never show the FPD as connected, and if it makes a difference the DDC info does not appear through the converted analog monitor either.

With the DVI-D cable connected there is no display, but if I unplug it then the monitor does the self-test thing, so it's detecting a physical connection of some kind.

How can I get this to work?

I am having the exact same problem with my 2005fpw.  Anyone know a solution?

I just got an ATI x800 XL AGP and I'm having the same problem. I can see the display on the dsub connector, but I can't see it on the DVI.

I noticed that the dell 2001fp monitor calls the adapter a DVI-D adapter, but the video card mentions DVD-I
What's the difference, and could this be the problem?

BTW. The monitor works perfectly on the DVI adapter on my ATI 9700Pro.

Yikes... I just looked at the dates of our posts. This thread has been up for months and it looks like DELL doesn't bother to read or help on these forums so I decided to call them.

The Marcella representative that answered the phone (after a very long hold) was useless. She said that they wouldn't assist me because the dell monitor I purchased from them was not attached to a dell PC.

Arrgh....

Hello, if you're still getting email from here --

I have almost exactly the same problem as you do. Can you give me any guidance about what DVI cable to buy to replace the substandard one Dell sent?

I'm looking at newegg for example and don't know how to choose:

DanielBethke,

We read them. We only test video cards that we ship on our PCs. We do not test those retail cards so we do not have any relevant data to assist you.
