2405FPW: Can not display this mode
I got the new widescreen monitor and set it up this morning. It all started to work great, system boot messages appeared, the starting windows xp message appeared, then I get a black screen with "1: d-sub, can not display this mode". It's not a windows message, but a message from the monitor itself, like the "no signal" message when you disconnect it from the PC.
The funning thing is, when the screen saver starts, the screen saver appears. As soon as I move the mouse, the error message appears again.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Reconnect you old monitor that works and try lowering your desktop to 800*600 at 60hz. If you don't have an older screen anymore try starting up in safe mode by hitting F8 over and over during boot until you get the prompt. Then it should be low res at the desktop. Reinstall the video card drivers so that when you start up again in normal mode you'll be at a lower resolution by default. Then when you try different resolutions and you get the blank screen you can wait the 15 seconds for it to revert back to what it was at.
Also, make sure under the monitor tab in advance display settings that it shows something like 2405fpw Analog instead of standard of plug-n-play monitor.
