2405FPW Squished Resolution at 1920x1200
Hi, I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this with the Dell 2405FPW monitor, or perhaps, if it's my video card (ATI 9800XT 256mb) causing it:
at 1920x1200 the monitor image is slightly squished horizontally (but does fill the entire screen correctly). In other words, text appears a bit condensed and circles are not 100% circles, but slight egg-like ovals. Unfortunately, unlike CRT's there is no way to adjust the height nor width of the image with DVI.
I can't believe this is the natural design of the monitor, it makes no sense to have a native resolution be a slightly squished image. I'm hoping it's just my video card....
I love the monitor, but the squished image thing is a problem for the advertising design work I do.
Is this common? Or is just me? Thanks in advance!

I have a 2405FPW and am using a 9700PRO. I don't seem to be experiencing that. Is it possible for you to include a picture in your post of what you are experiencing? Have you updated your drivers?

Thanks for all your responses. But I think I just realized the "problem." And yeah, feel like an idiot.
After closely comparing printed images vs. the screen images, there is just a very slight difference--something minute only a picky art director (like myself) would notice. As I've moved the monitor up and down, and around a bit, and at 1920 x 1080 as well, the more I look at it--because the LCD is so large--I think the slight squishiness I'm seeing just may be caused by the viewing angle itself.
It's just going to take some time to get used to vs. the good ol' 21-in Sony.
