2407WFP : no display with DVI

No display using DVI cable.
Works fine using VGA port.
Works fine using VGA cable on the DVI port (with an adapter given with the video card).

My video card is an nVidia 6600 GT with the latest nvidia drivers.
I installed the monitor drivers given on the Dell CD.

When I plug both cables, Windows XP sees correctly 2 monitors, I can configure clone mode, but still no display through the DVI port.

I need to make it work.
I'll change my PC soon (for an HP Pavilion Slimline) and it will have no VGA port, only DVI.

Thanks.

I had to have my 2407wfp replaced because of problems with dvi. Apparently the whole dvi port was messed up. I had to jiggle the dvi cable until it was seated in a specific position, to get a clear picture. Otherwise, everything would go off-color orange/green etc.

I might be missing something Gwinnix, but you are using only one cable, and not both on the same monitor, and system  ?  You did switch from Analog to DVI using the left most button on the monitor that switchs the connection, yes, no ?

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/2407WFP/en/setup.htm#Connecting%20Your%20Monitor

Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cable.

Connect either the white (digital DVI-D) or the blue (analog VGA) display connector cable to the corresponding video port on the back of your computer. Do not use both cables on the same computer. The only case in which both cables can be used is if they are connected to two different computers with appropriate video systems.

Connect the upstream USB port (cable supplied) to an appropriate USB port on your computer .

Plug the power cables for your computer and monitor into a nearby outlet.

Turn on the monitor and computer.
If your monitor displays an image, installation is complete.

Thanks for your reply SR45.
I know that I should not plug the 2 cables (VGA & DVI) on the same monitor, I have read the doc too, but that's what I did because I wanted to compare.

To describe it simply :

it works fine using the VGA cable on the VGA port of the video card.
it works fine using the VGA cable on the DVI port of the video card, with an adapter.

it doesn't work at all using the DVI cable on the DVI port of the video card.

Thanks for your help, guys.

Gwinnix,
Are you toggling the Input Source button on the front of the monitor?

Well wish I could shed some light on this for you. So you're having a DVI-D issue, maybe its the cord. Im not using the cord it came with I bought a seperate dvi-d cord. Ive seen issues with cards where the dvi goes out. I've seen reports of dvi input on the 2407 being bad too. You'll just have to keep troubleshooting to find the answer.

I've tried several DVI cords that work on other computer & monitor.
I've done about all possible tests...

Only thing I can think of is test with another dvi d monitor or test another vid card with 2407. I feel your pain pcs can be such a pain sometimes.

All,

I just had the technical support on the phone.
Normally, I'll receive a new monitor tomorrow and they get the bad one back.

I'll come again to tell you what's next.

All,

I received yesterday my new HP slimline computer and the DVI port & cord work fine with it. So I suppose the problem comes from my old computer and not from my Dell monitor.

A few hours later came someone to replace my monitor. The one he brought was not a new monitor, but a used, repacked one. I could see it from dust and a few scratches on it.
As it wasn't necessary any more to replace the monitor, I kept mine.

As a conclusion, I say that people who have the same problem as I had should try their monitor on another computer.
