2709W Buttons Do Not Work

Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

The 2709W has strange non-mechanical buttons.  Except for the power button, the buttons on my monitor do not work reliably.  I can press them many times and nothing happens, then the menu appears only to disappear again.  They often tantalisingly start to hum with a blue LED glow but do not respond to finger pressing by providing a menu.  My instinctive response is to press the surface of the button harder but this seems to fail to work.  Eventually, menus do appear and the same behaviour happens on the selection of submenus; sometimes resulting in the menu collapsing without a selection being made.  It is all very frustrating and lack of a mechanical feedback is psychologically damaging ...

How can you make these buttons respond to finger presses more reliably?  Why does Dell make a monitor with buttons like this; is it just that they are cheap to manufacture?

Thanks

Harry
