AE515M Soundbar, Mic issue, #7
Hi,
I recently purchased a Dell AE515M Soundbar however I am unable to get the microphone to work.
The Soundbar itself works great however I am unable to get rid of the constant red light on the microphone button.
The AE515M is connected to the U3219Q and the upstream port is connected to my desktop.
All other peripherals (Logitech G613 Keyboard, G903 Mouse and Logitech G Play) attached to the monitor works perfectly except for the Soundbar microphone.
I have contacted the Dell Support Team in Singapore however they informed me that since the Soundbar is connected to the U3219Q which is then connected to a non Dell PC, they are unable to provide support as they are only authorized to provide support if it is connected to a Dell PC - which I find a touch odd.
Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,

* Instead of connecting the AE515M Soundbar short USB cable to the monitor USB downstream port, disconnect it from monitor USB downstream port. Connect the provided AE515M Soundbar USB extension cable to the AE515M Soundbar short USB cable. Then connect the other end of the AE515M Soundbar USB extension cable to a USB port on the PC itself
* Go to Settings --> Privacy --> Microphone
* Set Microphone and all apps to On
* Retest

See page 10 in the online AE515M Soundbar User's Guide
A mod actually PMed me and got me the help I need. Thought I just left this here in case anyone else faced this issue. Just follow the instructions on Page 10 and also check that the Soundbar has been selected as the default audio device in sound settings.
Lastly, don't forget to restart the computer - it just worked after all of the above and a restart.
