AW2518HF, 240Hz, black screen or blinking
I just got this monitor and apparently everything works fine up to 144Hz. But at 240Hz I get black screen during gaming. The monitor is connected with the HDMI and the USB cable, no other monitors connected. Also tried with a DP, same problem.
My PC specifications:
Intel i5-8600K
16GB DDR4
AMD RX 580
PSU: EVGA 650w Gold
Windows 10
Already tried a clean install of AMD drivers but the problem is still there. Already installed the monitor driver and monitor display software. Also tried with another PC (Ryzen 5 + same AMD RX 580) and do the same: black screen during gaming, fine in windows. This is the second monitor with the same issue I get from Amazon, the first I returned back because I was sure the problem was the monitor but now, before return back this one, I would like to try to solve the problem. Can you help me?

On a hardware level, we know that that the AW2518HF HDMI or DP are capable of doing 240Hz using the AMD FreeSync technology and dedicated AMD FreeSync drivers. The fact that both AW2518HF worked at 240Hz in Windows, but then failed inside the games, points to the games, not the monitor or drivers. You should go to the games support forums and post the issue and all of your hardware specifications. See what the game authors have to say.

Thanks for the reply.
Listening to your suggestion I tried a different game that I'm sure support 240Hz: Cs Go and it worked fine, with no black screen at 240Hz, 240 FPS. After that I tried again with Fortnite (the game that I'm playing most of the time actually) and it worked too BUT I had one black screen for a few seconds during the game when usually the black screens occurred many times and the game was unplayable. What could be happened? To play CS GO I had to reinstall it and with the game I see some DirectX files installation, could that files helped the situation?

Unfortunately I still have issues with this monitor, trying again with CS GO I have black screen and game in unplayable. For some reasons yesterday it worked fine even at 240Hz, 240FPS. CS GO is a very popular game and I'm sure it support 240Hz, no need to ask to game authors. At this point don't know what to do, other suggestions?

No idea. From a hardware and driver point of view, it seems OK. You need to post the issues and hardware on those Game Forums and see what other gamers are saying that have the same hardware.

In my opinion, this monitor is defective, no other explanation. Even when it works in game the image quality is pretty poor, you can see pixel during transition and movements. I'm going to ask a refund to Amazon.

I tried a DP cable instead of HDMI and, surprise, the monitor now works, no black screens occurred even during gaming. The image quality by the way is pretty poor, sometimes, completely random, the grid of pixel is visible during transitions in gaming. Apparently the problem of the visible pixel grid is related with the Hz of the monitor, the problem is worse at lower Hz.

1. You have the latest AMD FreeSync driver installed
2. If you installed it, the DDM (Dell Display Manager) is disabled
3. AMD FreeSync is enabled in the Radeon software
4. You have verified with the game manufacturer that the game supports AMD FreeSync 240Hz
You are going to test 9 different monitor setting configurations using "Response Time" and "Game- Preset Mode".
* At 240Hz, enter the Menu OSD (On Screen Display)
* Go to Game
* Set Response Time to Super Fast
* Change the Preset Mode to FPS
* Test a game
* Then test the same game using Game- Preset Mode RTS and RPG
* Enter the Menu OSD (On Screen Display)
* Go to Game
* Set Response Time to Fast
* Change the Preset Mode to FPS
* Test a game
* Then test the same game using Game- Preset Mode RTS and RPG
* Enter the Menu OSD (On Screen Display)
* Go to Game
* Set Response Time to Normal
* Change the Preset Mode to FPS
* Test a game
* Then test the same game using Game- Preset Mode RTS and RPG
