Blueish grayscale colors on 1707FP

I have two 1707FP monitors in a dual screen setup. One of them has a blueish tint to all of the greyscale colors. The other monitor is fine and I'm happy with the way it works. I already sent the blueish monitor back to Dell for replacement and the replacement has the same problem.

I'm wondering if this is a common problem for this type of flat panel monitor? What is the cause? Is it limited to a certain batch of monitors?

It's not the cables or the port on the graphics card. I swapped monitors and the problem follows the monitor and not the cables or the graphics card port. Both monitors have been reset to factory defaults. Graphics card is an Nvidia 7600GT. Same problem with both the analog (VGA) and digital (DVI) connections.

Here's a picture of the two monitors which shows the blueish tint with a grayscale image.

The web page on the screen is open to the Monitor Gamma adjustment at ePaperPress. It shows that the solid grey is not really a true gray. Fiddling with the monitor color adjustments doesn't fix the problem.

Any info and background about the problem is appreciated.
