Dell E1910C Monitor Freezing

My dell monitor will start up fine when it is plugged in, but when I attempt to plug it in through VGA it freezes up, displays a black screen, and the buttons and power button no longer work. All the buttons work fine before the monitor freezes up. The error seems to be random (at least from my observations). If you leave the monitor sitting for a couple of days unplugged it will work fine for about a day, but then start freezing up again. I have already tried the factory reset in the onscreen display, and I held the power button for 30 seconds to drain the circuitry, but neither of them have any effect. I have also tried using it on different computers and reinstalling the drivers, that did nothing either. Time seems to be the only thing that helps it work again. Does anybody know what could be causing this problem?

Hi,
Welcome to our community. We might have to check the functionality of the VGA cable. Please try using another VGA cable and let us know the outcome.

Thank You so much for responding. I have already tried a different VGA cable. The problem is not with the computer or the cable for 2 reasons:
1. The problem happens without fail no matter the conditions (The exception being leaving the monitor sitting for a few days and then it's random if it will work and for how long). I have tried it on 3 different computers and it failed to work on all of them.
2. The monitor itself locks up when I plug it into the VGA port. The monitor, even after being unplugged from the VGA port is still locked up. When I attempt to press the power button nothing happens. Another note to add, the power state that the button displays (Blue=on, Nothing=off) also seems to be random. What the monitor displays when plugged into the VGA port also varies and is random. Most of the time it goes straight to a black screen and locks up. I have also seen it freeze on the moving notification that the VGA is not connected, and I have also seen it fade into white.
To clarify once again. I have verified that the problem is not the cord nor is it the computer that it is connected to.

I have already attempted all recommended troubleshoot and nothing has made any change to the status of the monitor.

I had a monitor exhibiting the exact symptoms you detailed here. Dell E2010Hc, but I assume this is a similar model electronically to yours.
I seem to have returned the monitor to normal behavior by replacing some faulty capacitors on the input board (the one with the VGA and DVI inputs). Specifically I replaced all of the 100μF capacitors, which were all giving capacitance readings under 100μF.
It makes sense that the input board was the one experiencing faults: the monitor would power up and display fine (i.e. no backlight or screen issues), but once an input source was applied then the monitor would freeze and not function.
I hope you still have the monitor and are able to fix!
