Dell LCD Monitor SE198WFPv Stays White

Greetings everyone,

Turned on our Dell Monitor we purchased from Walmart last year and it seems that it just flashes White and then stays white.

I called Dell support tonight,  i've no express support number.

Apparently I have no service tag number.

Representative says I need to call Walmart for the service tag number?

MFG date is 2008 1   ,  Jan 2008?

Given I've read there is a 3-year waranty why wasn't this taken care of by the rep?

shane_sanders,

* Turn off the monitor
* Unplug the monitor from the computer (ALL cables)
* Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket
* Turn on the monitor
* The floating red/green/blue/white dialog box should appear on screen against a black background
* What appears on your monitor?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for replying.

Following up,

The monitor is not exactly dead.  It displays all white connected or disconnected from the computer.

The led is blue.  I did make a 2nd attempt to contact Dell support last night and the call got dropped.

Today we've contacted Walmart.  Given we did not purchase a warranty with them  there is nothing they can do for us.

I didn't see the point of a 2nd warranty at the time, double taxation?

At the moment, my wife is attempting to call Dell support again.:emotion-12:

Again Following up,

Wife was transferred to Customer Care and then back to Technical Support.

They are unable to assist us.  That is a quote.

What is my next option?

Thanks

* Contact support again. Have them open up DSN and search for "walmart monitor"
* They should click the Articles tab and then click on "Dell Products Sold Through Retailer (Co 09) Policy and Procedure - CTS/DOC"
* It states under "Monitor Replacement for Shelf-Stock Purchases", how they should go about setting up the monitor exchange
* They will need the following from you -
Name:
Email Address:
Shipping address:
Phone number:
Monitor 20 digit PPID number found on the back on a label or on the slider card on the left rear:
Reason: White screen. Fails Self Test

Support is still dodging the issue.  Tech and Senior Tech claim they can't pull up any information.

I have an S199WFP monitor that I purchased direct from Dell in April 2008 with the same problem. If you find out who to contact for support I would appreciate knowing. Thanks. Lynn
