E207WFP, not connecting on Windows

Hi,

I have a Dell Monitor Model: E207WFP using a DVI out to HDMI in that does not connect to one of my Windows laptops. I then changed to DVI out to DVI in with a USB-C adapter to connect to my Mac, and it connects fine. I tried directly connecting this current cable layout (DVI DVI USB-C) to my Windows laptop and it does not connect. I tried looking for the drivers to update manually, but the instructions do not work, specifically step #7 and 8:
7.Type C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R211140 in the Open textbox and then click OK.
8.Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

Any advice is appreciated,
JC

You do not mention which specific Dell Laptop model or operating system installed on it. But, the 12 year old E207WFP monitor was only tested/validated for Windows 2000/XP/Vista. The driver you linked to is for Windows Vista only.

Ah, apologies, you are correct.

My laptop is running Win 10 on a Dell XPS 15. The monitor was working last week, if that helps. Are there any drivers for Win 10?

Thanks for the quick response Chris,
JC

Actually, update:

I did absolutely nothing in the time I posted this question but the monitor decided to connect to my Windows laptop again.

so... thanks Chris.

Nope. Windows 10 should notate it as PnP monitor. You should post the issue on the XPS laptops board. Be sure to show them how you are trying to connect =

XPS 15 USB Type-C out port --> USB Type-C to DVI adapter --> DVI to DVI cable --> E207WFP DVI in port
