IN2010N - sudden loss of resolution

Out of nowhere, this monitor suddenly switched to low graphics resolution. The installation CD tells me the required resolution is 1280 x 1024. Control Panel does not offer this option. (web posts talk about a slider for resolution - I don't have one).

I have downloaded the latest AMD drivers  - details

ATI RADEON 4300/4500

version 22.19.128.0

Desktop Inspiron 546

Any help much appreciated

Same problem (2 days earlier than your post) on a Studio 1745. Now this driver (22.19.128.0 from 07/25/2017) has been installed for some time, so why it randomly broke a couple days ago is bizzare. I was able to roll back to an earlier version (8.970.100.9001 from 01/13/2015) and *poof* back to normal resolution. So go into the device manager, and into display adapters->amd->updatedriver->browse->letmepick and choose 8.970.100.9001, wait for the screen to flash and resize a few times, then reboot. Should be good to go.

This sounds like a video card or video card driver issue. The 2009 IN2010N monitor maximum resolution is 1600x900 60Hz. What specific video card is installed in the 2009 Inspiron 546? Check the Dell invoice. Or, open up the case and remove the video card itself to look for a model and part number. Then blow out all the dust on the video card and the system. Reseat the video card. Retest.

Thank you so much - it worked like a charm -  I was just about to open the case and fiddle around with the graphics card !

Yeah, I was about to do the same; thought maybe the gpu fan had died or some connector shook loose. Glad it worked!
