Monitor Buzzing but picture fine?????

I need help troubleshooting a monitor/video card problem. I recently replaced my older Dell Dimension with a Dimension 8400 with the 128MB PCI Excpress X16 ATI Radeon X300SE video card. I'm running Windows XP Home. I kept my old NEC Multisync XV17+ monitor, which worked fine with the old Dell.

Now, I have an intermittant buzzing coming from the monitor. Whenever the computer is actively doing something, (such as a Search command to find all files with *.jpg), the monitor will have a buzzing noise, even though nothing is changing on the monitor display. The noise stops if I turn off the monitor and restarts when I turn it on. The picture itself is fine. But, there was absolutely no problem with the monitor with my older Dell running Windows ME. I've discussed this with Dell Support and reseated everything possible in the computer. They told me its the monitor and to get it fixed. I've tried the monitor with various resolution settings with no improvement to the intermittant buzzing.

Does anyone know if a monitor can cause a buzzing noise like this by itself? Or could it somehow be related to the computer and video card?
Thanks!

KBoys,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Try changing the refresh rate by going into the display properties. Once there click Settings | Advanced | Adapter or Monitor you can change both. You will then see where to change the refresh rate. Try changing the Adapter refresh rate first. You may need to try different settings to get the buzzing to stop.
