P-series vs U-series Monitor

Hi All,

I am after a new monitor for some basic video and photo editing. I was originally looking at a U2419HC monitor but ii have noticed that there is also a P version.

I just wonder is there a difference in these monitors for what i intend to use it for out of these two. other than price of course as I see the P is a bit cheaper as well.

The only substantial difference is the U2419HC has a USB Type-C port and a DP out port for daisy chain. Below are the User's Guides.

So what is exactly the difference between the UltraSharp series and the P series? Especially U2419HC and P2419HC. I hope, you're able to help me.

@Daniel1234567890  sorry, I addressed my previous reply above to the wrong person.  I meant to address it to you.  Hopefully you find it useful.  The P and U Series models sometimes use the same display panels and differentiate themselves on connectivity, such as the ports available and the capabilities of those ports, e.g. DP 1.4 vs 1.2, capabilities of USB ports in terms of speed and power output, amount of power provided via USB-C to the attached system, etc.

@Asoe209  When I can't tell the difference between displays based on the product pages and limited specs available there, I find that it helps to read the User Guide of the products in question, which are available for both displays on support.dell.com.  A quick glance through them shows these differences:

  • U2419HC supports DisplayPort 1.4 input. This allows more input bandwidth, which can be useful if you might create a display daisy chain.  P2419HC only appears to support DisplayPort 1.2.  If you don't care about daisy chaining, this won't matter though.
  • U2419HC has an audio line out jack if you want to connect speakers or a soundbar to your display rather than having to run an audio cable from your PC.
  • U2419HC has two out of its four USB ports that support BC 1.2 for higher power output to charge devices.  The P2419HC's USB ports don't support this.
  • U2419HC's bezels appear to be a bit thinner, but I'm not sure about this.
