P2415Q, 2018 Apple MBP Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C

Hi. Trying to use this monitor on the 2018 MBP (MacBook Pro) via DisplayPort. I'm under the assumption that I need to disable MST in the P2415Q. The problem is, I cannot access the P2415Q OSD (On-Screen Display) unless there is a computer sending a signal. I connected an older MBP via HDMI but the MST settings were grayed out. How do I disable MST without accessing the OSD?

First, check the Dell validated operating system drivers listed. The P2415Q was not tested/validated by Dell with the Apple proprietary hardware and software. All we provided were true Windows PC testing and drivers. We can give you "best guess" support but you should also post this issue on the Apple Forum to get their opinion on troubleshooting.

Second. Correct, the MST settings will only appear when connected to the P2415Q DP in or mDP in. But, the P2415Q should have shipped with MST already set to Off.

The newest Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C/USB 3.1 Apple out ports are not supported by our monitor cables, even with adapters. The Dell cables only work with the older Thunderbolt 1 and 2 out ports. On the newer Apple, other Apple users stated on their Forum that you have to purchase a specific Thunderbolt 3/USB-C/USB3.1 to DP adapter and a DP to DP cable.
Apple TB3/USB-C/USB3.1 out port --> Thunderbolt 3/USB-C/USB3.1 to DP adapter --> DP to DP cable --> Monitor DP in

Update 12/26/18 = Apple users are stating that this works.
Apple TB3 out port --> Moshi USB-C to DP cable --> Monitor DP in port

I am using this cable with a 2016 Macbook pro and P2415Q monitor and it works well. When I got the 2016 MBP I attached a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter to the Thunderbolt 2 to Displayport cable I was using with the older MBP, and it did not work. You need the whole cable. Happily, it is cheaper than the adapter. Makes no sense but that's the way it is.

Thanks, Chris. I’ll try the adapters and hope for the best.

Hey, I'm having the same problem with the new MBP 2018 and connecting the P2415Q, did using the: Thunderbolt 3/USB-C/USB3.1 to DP adapter --> DP to DP cable work for you?

Thanks for your help.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the suggestion.  Are you able to point me to the discussion where more 2018 Apple MBP users are experiencing this issue with the P2415Q?  I wanted to check if this worked or not before I go ahead and buy more cables and adapters.

Thanks in advance.
Paolo

Hello, did anyone also test the new Moshi USB-C to DisplayPort cable that Apple is selling on their web site? In theory it should work with the 4K display too. https://www.apple.com/at/shop/product/HLR62ZM/A/moshi-usb-c-auf-displayport-kabel?fnode=8b
