P2415Q, U2311H, Surface Pro 4, daisy chain usage
Hi All,
I have successfully set up daisy chain monitors with configuration below:
surface pro 4 (mDp out) (Intel Graphics 520) <-mDp to Dp cable ->(DP in) P2415Q (Dp out) <-Dp cable -> (Dp in)U2311H
First cable is the one that came with P2415Q.
It works as expected: the P2415Q works at 4k30Hz instead of 4k60Hz, and the U2311H works at 1080P60Hz. Great!
My concern: sometimes I don't need the second 1080p display, is it possible to reclaim 4k60Hz with the primary P2415Q display without unplugging? I tried turning its power off, as well as use windows+P to set "PC screen only" which disables the U2311H, but still can't get 4k60Hz. Is it true that some how the graphics card is still outputting signal to the U2311H? Right now the only way seems to be unplugging the daisy chain cable. Is there any way without that?

@Yang2018 If that's the behavior you're observing, I doubt you can configure the display to behave differently in this regard. But I can suggest a workaround that might simplify things somewhat. First, test whether unplugging the display from power achieves the same end result as disconnecting the daisy chain cable. If so, then you could look into having some sort of toggle to control whether power goes to the display, either an outlet with an actual switch or an extension cord with an inline switch. That would allow you to relatively easily kill power to the display without having to mess with cables.
