The E7400 is the CPU. What model of Optiplex is this?
The P2419H monitor has the following video in ports = HDMI/DP/VGA
Proposed setups =
PC HDMI out port --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> P2419H HDMI in port
PC VGA out port --> VGA to VGA cable --> P2419H VGA in port
PC DP out port --> DP to DP cable --> P2419H DP in port

@Asgardian Queen 8194 HDMI to VGA cables are "directional", meaning that there are some cables designed to connect an HDMI output to a VGA input, and others designed to connect a VGA output to an HDMI input. If you have a cable designed to go in the opposite direction than you need, then it is not going to work. In terms of what source to choose on the display, the correct choice is the input connector you're using on the display itself, not the output on the PC. But as noted above, depending on your OptiPlex model, there may be a better choice here. Any time VGA is in the mix, on either end (or both), image quality will suffer because VGA is an analog signal whereas all other connector types are digital, and analog signals suffer from signal degradation. So depending on the output connectors available on your OptiPlex, there may be a better cable type that would give you superior image quality.
